NEA/TCG Career Development Program for Directors
ELIGIBILITY
- Candidates must be citizens or permanent residents of the United States at the time of application
- Candidates must be able to relocate during the program period, if necessary, for the successful completion of specially tailored career development placements.
- Candidates must have no professional or personal commitments which could prevent them from devoting six full months to program-related activities between October 1, 2007 and September 30, 2009.
- Candidates must have directed at least three fully staged professional productions.
- Candidates who have not directed professionally for at least one year after the completion of academic training are generally not eligible.
- Candidates enrolled in, or on leave from, university or conservatory training programs at the commencement of the program period are not eligible.
- Candidates may not maintain full-time salaried staff positions at professional theatres during the program period.
- Previous recipients of a National Endowment for the Arts Director Fellowship or previous participants in the NEA/TCG Career Development Program for Directors are not eligible to apply.
Candidates of diverse backgrounds representing the full spectrum of theatrical activity, including those who have worked in non-traditional venues, are encouraged to apply to this program. No applicant will be discriminated against on the basis of race, sex, religion, sexual orientation, color or national origin. Applications are reviewed and selected by a national independent selection committee composed of theatre professionals.
Tips for Applying
- Please read the guidelines thoroughly before applying, making special note of all eligibility and application requirements and deadlines.
- Using the guidelines and requirements, create a detailed checlist of everything needed to make a complete application. From the main requirements, (e.g. proof of citizenship) to the small requirements (e.g. application non-stapled, font no smaller than 11-pt Times New Roman).
- Print out a blank application to fill out as a rough draft version before completing and submitting your final proposal.
