New Plays in Production

Welcome to a new section of TCG’s website, featuring profiles of new plays with world premieres scheduled at TCG theatres. We hope these profiles will provide insight into each theatre’s reasons for developing and/or producing a particular new script, along with details on when the shows are running in case you’d like to make a special trip to attend one. The first group of plays listed here are those funded by the Edgerton Foundation’s New American Play Awards. This funding program has provided over twenty TCG member theatres with financial resources to increase rehearsal time with the full production team onsite at the theatre. We will be adding more plays soon.

"In 1938, there was no bigger sporting event than the bout between German boxer Max Schmeling and American "Brown Bomber" Joe Louis. World War II is about to change how Americans view the world around them and this fight elevated Louis from African-American hero to All-American icon. In 1970, the two men reunite in the most unlikely of places: a psychiatric ward."
