This year, TCG will hold the first Leading the Charge: Diversity and Inclusion Institute on June 5th as the Pre-Conference to the National Conference in Dallas.
Diversity has been a long-standing core value for TCG and a priority focus of our new strategic plan. Coming out of robust conversations at the 2012 National Conference in Boston and our action-packed conversations at the 2012 Fall Forum on Governance: Leading the Charge, we hope to continue the momentum and empower attendees with the tools to build diversity and inclusion action plans at their theatres.
We covered a lot of ground at the Fall Forum, but were not able to provide dedicated time for organization-based action planning for diversity and inclusion. With that in mind, we will limit the number of attendees to the Pre-Conference to ensure we can build on the momentum of the Fall Forum and go deeper into these issues, in a focused, intimate setting.
Instead of showcasing outside speakers and case studies, facilitator Carmen Morgan and TCG are developing a more hands-on, action-oriented curriculum that will start before and continue after the Conference.
We’ve moved beyond the point of acknowledging that our communities are changing, becoming more open and diverse every year. Now we must build upon this knowledge, evaluate our own internal resources—and take action.
For Registered Attendees:
The Pre-Conference will begin promptly at 9am on Wednesday, June 5th (with breakfast at 8:30am) at the Forth Worth Community Center. Please make sure you coordinate travel arrangements to ensure you arrive in Dallas by Tuesday evening. Hotel information can be found here. There will be a complimentary shuttle from the Dallas Sheraton to Fort Worth for the all-day Institute, and we will arrive back in time for the Conference Registration Informal Welcome Party that evening in Dallas.
We encourage you to visit the 2012 Fall Forum recordings & transcripts, as well as related resources.
