Theatre Communications Group Welcomes Five New Members to Its Board of Directors
Leaders from across the nation bring their distinct artistic vision, executive acumen, and experienced stewardship to strengthen TCG’s influence.
New York, NY – Theatre Communications Group (TCG), the national organization for theatre and the publisher of American Theatre magazine and TCG Books, is proud to announce the addition of five influential leaders to its Board of Directors: Teresa Coleman Wash, founding Executive Artistic Director of Bishop Arts Theatre Center; Eric Johnson, Artistic Director of Honolulu Theatre for Youth; Abby Marcus, Managing Director of Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park; Shaunda McDill, Managing Director of Pittsburgh Public Theater; and Alexandra Meda, Artistic Director of Studio Luna.
“These remarkable leaders bring a wealth of experience, creativity, and vision to TCG’s Board of Directors,” said LaTeshia Ellerson, TCG’s Co-Executive Director of National Engagement. “The powerful leadership they provide the communities that they serve, spanning artistic direction, producing, management, and community engagement, will strengthen TCG’s ability to serve the theatre ecology at this pivotal moment.”
TCG’s Board of Directors is composed of theatre leaders, artists, and advocates from across the country who help guide the organization’s strategic vision. Current board members include Jennifer Bielstein, John Fontillas (Vice Chair), Nataki Garrett (Chair), Hanay Geiogamah, Qween Jean, and Hana Sharif (Vice Chair). Together, with staff, they advance TCG’s mission to lead for a just and thriving theatre ecology.
About the New Board Members
Teresa Coleman Wash (she/her/y’all) is the founding Executive Artistic Director of Bishop Arts Theatre Center in Dallas, Texas. A playwright, producer, and passionate arts advocate, Teresa has led the theatre to national recognition for its innovative performances and deep community engagement. Her leadership has earned numerous awards, including TCG’s Peter Zeisler Memorial Award for ingenuity and artistic integrity.
Eric Johnson is the Artistic Director of Honolulu Theatre for Youth, leading an ensemble of professional theatrical artists creating new work celebrating the diverse cultures and dynamic stories of Hawai‘i. He is a proud alumnus of the TCG/NEA Early Career Directors Program and a recipient of the Princess Grace Fellowship.
Abby Marcus is the Managing Director of Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park. Over her career, Abby has worked with organizations including the Orchard Project, Playwrights’ Center, Dramatists’ Guild of America, HERE Arts Center, LAByrinth Theater Company, Baryshnikov Arts Center, and St. Ann’s Warehouse. She has served on the faculty of California Institute of the Arts, chaired the Honorary Awards Committee for the NY Innovative Theater Awards, and was a founding Board Member of the League of Independent Theatre. She currently serves on the boards of CreativeOhio, TCG, and Rockdale Temple. With the OBIE Award-winning Vampire Cowboys Theater Company, Abby produced ten world premieres of “geek theatre,” including The Inexplicable Redemption of Agent G, Alice in Slasherland, Soul Samurai (GLAAD Media Award nominee), and Fight Girl Battle World (NY Innovative Theater Award nominee).
Shaunda McDill serves as the Managing Director of Pittsburgh Public Theater. With over two decades of nonprofit executive and arts management experience, she has held leadership roles at The Heinz Endowments, Goodman Theatre, Pasadena Playhouse, and Cornerstone Theater Company. A graduate of Dartmouth College and Yale University, Shaunda teaches at Carnegie Mellon University and has served on Pittsburgh’s Public Art & Civic Design Commission and Governor Shapiro’s Advisory Commission on African American Affairs.
Alexandra Meda is Artistic Director of Studio Luna, founder of Culture Change Lab, and Producing Director for the Network of Ensemble Theaters. A transformation architect and facilitator, she guides organizations through leadership transitions, restructuring, and institutional change processes. Her practice integrates collaborative leadership development and organizational healing, with clients including the Sundance Institute, Harvard A.R.T., Walt Disney World, and Center Theatre Group.
Theatre Communications Group (TCG), the national organization for theatre, leads for a just and thriving theatre ecology.
