The 2025 Salary Survey is now open
We’re excited to share with you the newly streamlined 2025 Salary Survey!
Last year, over 170 theatres participated, making it one of the most robust responses of recent years! We continue to use the findings from this annual survey, along with TCG's other research, to understand the state of our sector and to fight for a more just and thriving theatre ecology.
For theatres that complete the Salary Survey, we also provide a complete report broken out by budget groups and have created scores of unique specialized reports based on region, budget size, and other specifications. The complete and specialized reports are ONLY available to theatres that complete the Salary Survey. You can download the survey here. Please make sure only one person from your theatre completes the survey!
As returning participants will notice, we have moved away from our previous platform and consolidated the workbook and survey into one Google Sheet. Instructions and reference materials can be found in the first two tabs, and the survey itself is broken down by departments in the following six tabs. You will not be able to edit the document directly, so please either Make A Copy or Download to Excel and rename it with your theatre’s name before completing and sending it back. This helps with our record keeping and allows you to retain a copy for your archives.

We hope this solves some pain points of previous years and makes this experience as stress-free as possible. As this is a new way of collecting this information, we’d love to hear your feedback. Please feel free to email me or leave notes in the comments section at the end of the survey.
The deadline for this survey is February 2, 2026 and we hope to have the results published in March. The Salary Survey is a Member Theatre benefit, so if you have not renewed your TCG membership, please do so here.
2024 Salary Survey
The 2024 Salary Survey aggregate results are now available. This year, nearly 170 theatres participated from a wide range of budget sizes, and we will continue to use the findings from this annual survey, in concert with TCG's other research, to understand the state of our sector and to fight for a more just and thriving theatre ecology. If your theatre participated in this year's survey, you are entitled to customized reports filtered by budget range, state, region, and many other fields. The Salary Survey is a Member Theatre benefit, so if you have not renewed your TCG membership, please do so here.

2023 Salary Survey
The 2023 TCG Salary Survey has now been published and is available to everyone in aggregate form here.
If you're a TCG Member Theatre and participated in the 2023 Salary Survey, you may access the full report with budget breakdowns or request specialized reports by emailing [email protected]. Please note that only TCG Member Theaters who have completed the survey may access the full report with budget breakdowns or request specialized reports.
TCG has been conducting the TCG Salary Survey for 27 years. For the first 24 editions, the survey was only accessible to the theatre managers who completed it. That changed with the TCG 2020 Salary Survey, after a group of theatre leaders who had been working through the #WeSeeYouWAT Demands called on TCG to publicly release the aggregate data. To honor their labor in completing the survey, participating theatres continue to have unique access to specialized reports. We hope the Salary Survey helps everyone in the field—from those making hiring decisions to job-seekers—make informed decisions about compensation.
2022 Salary Survey
After a hiatus in 2021 due to the pandemic, we’re pleased to launch the 2022 TCG Salary Survey. TCG has conducted a Salary Survey for 26 years, providing fieldwide context to managing and artistic leaders in planning, budgeting, and making critical personnel decisions. Since 2020, we've made the aggregate data publicly available to support equity for job seekers, as well.
